Smokeo Tea Sanctuary.

Chatham Historic Dockyard, Kent

2026

Live, Academic Project, Final Major Project.

Smokeo Tea Sanctuary reimagines a historic church as a restorative tea house where visitors can pause, reconnect with nature and escape the sensory demands of the dockyard. Informed by environmental psychology, biophilic design and user research, the project explores how spatial design can positively influence wellbeing, creating a calm, inclusive environment for people of all ages and sensory needs.

The Leaf Roof.

The roof of the tea house is inspired by the organic shapes of leaf skeletons, with shapes drawn directly from leaves I collected in Kent and hand printed onto paper to reveal their patterns.
