Smokeo Tea Sanctuary
Restorative Tea House | Chatham Historic Dockyard
Academic Project: Final Major Project
A biophilic tea house designed to provide moments of restoration and reflection for visitors to Chatham Historic Dockyard, using nature-inspired design to support wellbeing and reduce sensory overload.
Project Overview
Smokeo Tea Sanctuary reimagines a historic church as a restorative tea house where visitors can pause, reconnect with nature and escape the sensory demands of the dockyard. Informed by environmental psychology, biophilic design and user research, the project explores how spatial design can positively influence wellbeing, creating a calm, inclusive environment for people of all ages and sensory needs.
